What's New at MVSD?

Celebrating American Wetlands Month MVSD manages the McNabney Marsh and the Moorhen Marsh, 151 acres of wetlands and wildlife haven alongside Interstate 680 in Martinez.  In celebration of the American Wetlands Month, MVSD hosts the following activities and events: Celebration billboard: Wetlands... where land and water meet, where life and spirit connect! FREE Birding Field Trip on Saturday, May 1, 2010, 9:00 - 11:00 AM.  Join the Mt. Diablo Audubon Society for a fun and informative hike around the McNabney and Moorhen Marsh systems as we look for our favorite avian residents and migrants.  See the flyer for more details. "Peyton Slough Wetlands: the Crown Jewel of Contra Costa County" 15-minute video about the history of Peyton Slough Wetlands, including McNabney Marsh, will be aired on Contra Costa TV on: Friday, April 30, at 5:30 PM; Friday, May 14, at 5:30 PM; Friday, May 28, at 5:30 PM.  Contra Costa TV is on Comcast channel 27, Astound channel 32, and AT&T U-Verse channel 99. • Household Hazardous Waste Collection Facility is now open Monday through Saturday.  New hours of operation are:  

• More locations to dispose of unused medications in Central County!  Dispose  in a pharmaceutical collection bin at any of the nine new drop-off locations in Central Contra Costa County.  Please see the flyer for details.
  

• Dispose of used home medical sharps in the collection kiosk at the Administration Building of Mt. View Sanitary District.  Proof of residency in the service area of Mt. View Sanitary District is required.

• Request for Proposals:  Systems Reliability Evaluation for Wastewater Treatment Plant and Addendum #1.  Proposals must be delivered to Mt. • HOLIDAY ALERT:  Please recycle turkey fryer oil and cooking grease, and avoid pain in the drain.  Cooking fats, oil and grease bolck drains and sewers.  Recycle.  Prevent raw sewage backups into your home, your streets and the Bay.  Posters and stickers are available at our Administration Building.
