Make Your Holidays FOG-less

With the holidays approaching, you can almost smell the delicious food that comes with it. The last thing you want to smell is a sewer blockage caused by fats, oils and grease (FOG) that were not properly disposed of and placed down your drain. You may be thinking of meat drippings and cooking oil but creamy sauces are hidden sources as well. Keep your sewer lateral clear by keeping FOG out of your drains. Remember to can it, scrape the excess and put everything in the trash.

Coastal Cleanup Successes

The District would like to send a big thank you to the Friends of Alhambra Creek and Contra Costa Resource Conservation District for their cleanup efforts in September.

Easement Jetter

The District’s Easement Jetter supports sewer collection pipe maintenance and is configured to enter tight locations and easements.

Sewer System Management Plan Audit

Internal audits of the District’s Sewer System Management Plan are performed every two years from the last update and re-certification, which was in 2019.

Help Shape the District for the Future

We are seeking applications from MVSD customers and residents to participate in a Community Advisory Committee, which will provide input into the District’s long-term plans to continue providing sewer collection and wastewater treatment services to its public.

We’re excited to re-open Moorhen Marsh to the public. Visiting hours are Mondays through Thursdays, 7 am to 4:30 pm, and Fridays, 7 am to 3:30 pm.

Critter of the Quarter: Great Egret

The International Bird Rescue released two Great Egrets into McNabney Marsh in September. After rehabbing with the Rescue, these birds will now play a part in the Audubon Canyon Ranch Heron and Egret Telemetry Project.

Fall is Here!

You know fall is here when the air starts to cool, and the leaves change colors and fall to the ground. Leaves in streets and gutters add higher than normal nutrients and lower than normal oxygen to local water bodies which can negatively affect the ecosystem.

Sewer Service Charge Rebate Assistance

The Sewer Service Charge Rebate Assistance program offers a 20% discount in the form of a rebate check after all property taxes for the subject parcel have been paid.
