The sanitary sewer lateral is the private property of the building owner, who is responsible for all of its related costs. MVSD is responsible after the mainline connection.

For work to be performed on residential & business sewer laterals, a permit must be obtained. To acquire a permit, call 925-228-5635 or visit our Permitting page.

In the event that equipment and/or debris become stuck past the property owner’s mainline connection, YOU must retrieve this material and contact MVSD immediately. YOU are responsible for ANY and ALL damages caused by the equipment and debris. 

MVSD costs associated with the recovery of any material left abandoned as well as the repair of the MVSD sewer lines WILL BE passed to the responsible plumber/property owner, as deemed appropriate.
