Home medical sharps must be placed in a heavy-duty plastic container and then disposed of at a collection kiosk.  

ATTENTION: THE KIOSK AT MVSD IS CLOSING EFFECTIVE OCTOBER 1, 2026.  

The white collection kiosk is currently available to MVSD residents at our Administration building near the front doors. Access to the kiosk is available Monday-Thursday, 7am-4:30pm and Friday, 7am-3:30pm. There is no weekend or holiday access.

Skip the trip to a kiosk and save on gas! Safely dispose of your home medical sharps with FREE mail-back services. Order a sharps mail-back package to be shipped directly to your residence for free at https://sharpstakebackcalifornia.org/ or call (844) 4-TAKE-BACK or (844) 482-5322.

To have a sharps mail-back package shipped directly to your home:

1. Visit https://sharpstakebackcalifornia.org/ and complete the online request form, or call (844) 4-TAKE-BACK (844-482-5322).
2. Receive your sharps container and prepaid mail-back package by mail.
3. When your sharps container is full, follow the instructions included with the mail-back package and place it in your mailbox for pickup.
4. Repeat the process by requesting another FREE mail-back package as needed (only one request per week).

Mail-back services must be requested for each return. Containers and their packaging are not automatically sent back upon return.
