Prop 218–UPDATE

Because of the Corona Virus orders, the Public Hearing originally scheduled for April 9, 2020 has been continued to May 14, 2020 and will be held as follows:
NOTICE OF CONTINUED PUBLIC HEARING
Wastewater infrastructure is essential to protect public health and the environment. Mt. View Sanitary District (MVSD), has been fulfilling this mission for nearly 100 years. Due to the ongoing and immediate needs to replace critical aged infrastructure, the MVSD Board of Directors will consider the adoption of a rate increase on annual sewer service charges as set forth in the 2020 Sewer Service Charges Study. This Notice supplements the Notice mailed to you on February 21, 2020.
ALL PERSONS ARE HEREBY NOTIFIED OF A PUBLIC HEARING BEFORE THE DISTRICT BOARD OF THE MT. VIEW SANITARY DISTRICT ON THE DESCRIBED INCREASE AS FOLLOWS:
At 6:30 p.m. on Thursday, May 14, 2020, at the Board Meeting Room of the Mt. View Sanitary District located at 3800 Arthur Road, Martinez, California.
At said time and place all interested persons may appear and be heard on the proposed increases in fees commencing on July 1, 2020, for sewer user service charges. Persons wishing a copy of the 2020 Sewer Service Charges Study may obtain a copy from the Secretary at the District Office and may also view them on the District’s website: www.mvsd.org/2020-Sewer-Service-Charges-Study
All owners and tenants of property receiving sanitary sewer service from Mt. View Sanitary District are invited to attend the Continued Public Hearing on May 14, 2020, and to comment on the proposed rate increase. Proposition 218 allows property owners to file a written protest before or during the public hearing. If written protests are presented by a majority of all the District’s property owners, a rate increase will not be approved. Only one written protest per identified parcel or property will be counted for purposes of determining whether there is a majority protest.
Written protests must be received prior to the close of the Continued Public Hearing on May 14 to be considered. The written protest must be signed by the property owner(s) and must include a description of the affected property, including address and/or Assessor’s Parcel Number. If you were not identified as the owner of the property on the most recent Contra Costa County tax roll, include written evidence that you presently own the property.
