Did You Know?

Did you know that your sanitary sewer lateral is the private property of the building owner, who is responsible for all the costs related to its repair and maintenance? MVSD defines the sanitary sewer lateral or building lateral as typically beginning within two feet of the building structure to where it connects to the mainline sewer. This also includes the fitting in which the lateral connects to the mainline. Learn more about your lateral at https://www.mvsd.org/your-sanitary-sewer-lateral.

A permit is required for any work performed on your lateral and can be obtained by calling MVSD at 925-228-5635 ext.10 or emailing info@mvsd.org.

BEWARE OF SCAMS: Be cautious of unsolicited claims that your sewer lateral requires certification. MVSD does not have a lateral certification program. Always verify permit requirements with MVSD before authorizing work or paying for inspections.
