Safe Medication Disposal

Unused and/or expired prescription drugs that are improperly disposed of are a public safety issue because they can be retrieved from the trash, abused, or illegally sold. Medications that are flushed or put down the drain have a negative impact on the environment because wastewater treatment plants are not equipped to remove these pharmaceuticals from the wastewater, so they can end up in the environment and have a negative impact on aquatic life.
