In February 2026, the required Notice of Intent to adopt a schedule of sewer service charges was posted, notices were mailed to property owners, and the Board called for a Public Hearing on April 9, 2026. The Sewer Service Charges Study (https://www.mvsd.org/reports) established a proposed rate schedule that would result in sewer service charge increases of $33/year (about $2.75/month) in fiscal year 2026-2027 and $48/year (about $4.00/month) in the next fiscal year for single-family residences.

These increases are necessary to adequately fund sewer utility operations, maintenance, and capital replacement expenditures, meet debt service obligations, and keep rates as competitive as possible while maintaining a prudent level of reserves.

In response to the proposed increase, MVSD received two letters of protest. The MVSD Board voted to accept the proposed increase at the Public Hearing on April 9, 2026. The updated rates will go into effect on July 1, 2026.
